“I don’t want to stay in academia, but I’m not sure what other options I have.”

Free one-on-one consultations

We've found individual career guidance--tailored to your areas of expertise--from an experienced and accredited career counselor is the most efficient way to "get unstuck" and launch your career transition.

“Are my academic skills a good fit for industry?”

Attend employer-supported events

Applying for jobs online and sifting through job boards can often feel like a whole lot of effort with very little feedback.

Make meaningful connections through ProPhounD's employer-supported events. These are organized by companies specifically looking to hire PhD talent, co-designed by ProPhounD to make sure it's beneficial for both parties.

Hear about open positions, advice for applying, and get hands-on experience straight from the source. Here you'll find a safe space to develop your transferable skills while building relationships with potential future teammates.

“I want to talk to someone who already made the switch.”

Connect with peers who have made career transitions

The best way to learn what it's really like is directly from those who have been in your shoes and made the transition successfully. As part of our community, you can learn from someone who has already switched from academia to industry, or chat with others looking to transition.

We’re creating a private forum to share resources, chat, and encourage one another on your career exploration journey! Here, you’ll be able to learn from others and expand your network! Learn asynchronously on your own time and chat in a comfortable, judgment-free zone where you can ask questions about possible career paths.

Our promises to PhDs

Our services are always free.

Period.

As PhD-holders, we understand how costly and difficult graduate school and postdoc positions are because we’ve been there ourselves! We want to help you without adding another fee or subscription. Your time and money are precious, and we respect that 100%. Job-seekers don’t pay for our services. Our services are paid for by the companies who want to hire you.

We will help you transition from academia to industry.

Regardless of your university, location, or affiliation, we will work with you one-on-one in the way that best suits you. Chat with Andrew, our expert career counselor, and feel free to contact anyone on our team! We’re happy to email, video chat, and send you any resources you need to be best informed about your career options.

What inspires you is our priority.

Many PhDs attend graduate school because they are passionate about solving life-changing problems. Sadly, the reality of academia causes many people to lose touch with that passion for various reasons, leaving some people to abandon their dreams. It’s a tragedy after so much effort— one that is avoidable.

The world has big problems and needs passionate people who can solve them. Luckily, there are so many opportunities outside of academia to work on these problems and change the world. Our goal is to connect you to those opportunities and to light the torch of excitement from the spark that brought you to research in the first place.

Our career education is real.

It’s real for three reasons: It is based on the real needs of organizations looking to hire PhDs now, it is grounded in modern career development techniques, and it is vetted and co-created by PhDs who’ve been-there and done-that.

Our content is based on current demand, which rapidly changes in an ever-evolving world. We strive to provide advice and resources for today's careers, not ones that are 10 or 20 years old.

Our services are based on our own PhD experiences.

Essentially, we’re building what we would have loved to have as graduate students and postdocs. We’re tired of watching our friends suffer from the lack of career education support, so we decided to do something.

We will never spam you.

An academic’s inbox is already a nightmare. We won’t make it worse.
